August 2010 Site Newsletter
Posted By: Ryan @ Aug 29 2010, 11:19 PM
Another month has gone by PSF and we're still here. In fact, we're still going just as strong as we were one month ago when I wrote our last newsletter. So once again, congrats PSF, let's keep moving forward.

Although I fully anticipate a drop in activity next month due to the impending 2010-2011 school year, we will work through this, so I don't think any of us should sweat it. This last month has been a month of change and controversy over that change. A new posting rule was implemented in order to increase the quality of site posting but only managed to cause all hell to break loose and some to question whether or not they wanted to stay here. I'm happy to say, however, that we worked past it and the rule is now being quite well received with many members working towards "VIP" status. I think we need to extend a congrats to our VIPs and a thanks to them for helping to make this site what it is. Their quality posting has brought our post count way up and in the days following the implementation of this new rule, activity boomed. We hope that this continues from now until the end of PSF.

Members voted on it and the site was given a new look. The plan for lighter skins has not been abandoned and I would like to personally assure you that lighter skins are in this site's future. Unfortunately, I, like many, am already falling back into the monotony of reality with school fast approaching and summer assignments that need completion.

Much the same as last month, we need to extend our sincerest thanks to our awesome PWA staff for making the PWA what is is, even after a massive site crash. And speaking of staff, veteran member Ashez was promoted to become the site's first (and so far only) Global Moderator. We know that with his help, PSF will run as smoothly as it ever has. What he's accomplished here should be a model to every member who wants to become staff. As always, we are constantly looking to see who our next staff members will be, so stay on your toes if you'd like a staff position.

Unfortunately, with the arrival of new staff comes the departure of old staff. Last month saw the departure of verteran member and Gaming mod Gardnerd. Because Gardnerd was also the webmaster of our main streaming site, we're now without our own streaming site. However, this was for the best as there was dissent amongst the staff and his departure opened up the door for Ashez.

I'd also like to give a special mention to fellow admin Scott who, although manages to be forgotten at times, is as important as Nick or I. His knowledge and constant work to get us affiliates and new members has helped to make PSF what it is today. And don't forget as we sometimes do, if you have questions, Scott is an admin and can help you just as much as Nick or I.

So that's it PSF, August is review. Let's make September just as strong even with the fast approaching school year.

And I'd also like to personally say good luck to everyone this school year whether you are in middle school, high school or college. Make it a good one, it always counts.

New Skin
Posted By: Ryan @ Aug 16 2010, 03:01 PM
After hours upon hours of work, the Aphotic skin is now up and fully customized. It will be used as the default skin from here on out. I will announce when the other two skins are up as well. The Hybrix Moonlight skin will most likely be removed in favor of Aphotic.

*NOTE* The Aphotic skin was optimized for Firefox and Google Chrome. I cannot guarantee that it will look as good in IE.

I think everyone needs to extend their congratulations to Ashez on becoming PSF's first Global Moderator! We know that Ashez was the right choice and that with his help PSF will be running smoother than it ever has before!
